Why recall is the product
Rereading feels like practice. It often is not. Holdfast’s learning loop is Notice, Recall, Connect, Return. The middle step is the one most Bible apps skip: an attempt with the words not already filling the screen.
You can still use support. Blanks and first-letter cues exist so a hard morning is not a wall. They are labeled as support, not as a perfect recitation.
Typed recall
When you type what you remember, Holdfast can compare your attempt with the passage you are practicing. Scoring is for your own return, not for a public leaderboard. The app is not a classroom grade.
Cues without collapsing the difference
Need a letter, a blank, or the full text? Take it. Then try again. The daily queue and spaced review still know whether you were practicing with help or from memory, because those are different kinds of work.
Common questions
Do I have to type?
No. Methods vary by platform and beta build. The requirement is an honest attempt, not a single input style.
Will Holdfast speak the verse for me?
Audio and speech features, where present, are aids. They are not a substitute for recall, and they are not a new Bible translation.
